Prohibited Products and Services

This list explains which merchant products and services TickTapPay Services may not be used for, or may only be used for with TickTapPay's express written permission. It is based on our current understanding of applicable laws, risk factors—including chargeback and fraud levels—reputational impact and the costs associated with providing services for the relevant categories.

Scheme owners of specific payment methods may impose stricter restrictions on certain products or services. Merchants must check the current restrictions and prohibitions applicable to each payment method they use.

TickTapPay agreeing to provide services for a product or service does not constitute legal advice or an opinion about its legality. Merchants remain solely responsible for ensuring their products and services comply with applicable scheme rules and laws in their country of origin and in the countries where their customers are based.

Prohibited for All Transaction Types

Merchants may never use TickTapPay Services in relation to any of the following:

Illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, substances designed to mimic illegal drugs, psychoactive products, or tools and products specifically intended to produce or grow drugs.
Pyramid selling.
Escort agencies, massage parlours or sexual services.
Timeshares and timeshare maintenance.
Independent financial advisers, payday loans, and unsecured loans or credit lines originating from non-FDIC-insured banks.
Counterfeit goods, replicas, or products infringing intellectual-property rights, including knockoffs, imitations and bootlegs.
Weapons, ammunition, military arms, explosive devices and firearm parts.
Products or services promoting hate, violence, discrimination, terrorism, harassment or abuse.
Products designed to bypass copyright protection or facilitate the unlicensed use of copyrighted materials.
Gambling services where gambling is illegal, or gambling services offered without a valid licence for the relevant jurisdiction.
Illegal products or services, or services providing peripheral support for illegal activities.
Adult entertainment, websites and content, including:
- Adult bookstores, videos, toys and graphic or nude internet content.
- Sexually oriented audio, companion, escort or dating services, and fetish products.
- Adult memberships, clubs, subscriptions, prostitution, strip clubs and web-based adult video.
Fake references, fake IDs, government documents, or other products and services that foster deception.
Mail-order spouse and international matchmaking services.
Social-media “click farms”, including the sale of clicks, likes, reviews or endorsements.
Telemarketing companies that:
- Offer gifts, prizes or contest entries as an inducement to purchase.
- Receive inbound calls resulting from postcards or similar mailings rather than catalogue or media advertising.
- Sell products or services as an agent for a third party.
Deceptive marketing practices, including:
- Hidden disclosures, bogus claims or endorsements.
- Refund or cancellation avoidance and poorly disclosed negative options.
- Substantial rebates or special incentives used to induce purchases.
- Negative-response marketing that automatically charges customers after a free trial.

Restricted for All Transaction Types

Merchants may only use TickTapPay Services for the following with express written approval. Approval may be withheld or revoked where the activity poses a risk to TickTapPay's business or reputation:

Betting and gambling, including card-not-present wagering, lotteries, sports forecasting, odds-making and internet gambling.
Games of skill or fantasy sports where participants receive cash, cash equivalents or prizes of material value.
Financial services and money-service businesses, including:
- Prepaid access or stored-value providers and sellers.
- Quasi-cash, non-bank cash advances, money orders, travellers' cheques and cheque cashing.
- Virtual currency, e-wallets or e-money that can be monetised, resold or converted.
- Third-party payment processors, aggregators, payment facilitators, ISOs, IPSPs, MSPs, fulfilment houses and shipping or forwarding brokers.
Auctions and bidding-fee or penny auctions.
Payment of fines or penalties.
Charities.
Security brokers and investments, including securities, currencies, derivatives, commodities, shares, options, financial instruments and precious metals.
Private medical practices and e-doctors.
Products or services related to political or social campaigning.
Car sales, importers and car-advertising publications.
Multi-level marketing.
Airlines and cruise lines, including those nested under another entity.
Bail bonds and bankruptcy lawyers.
“Get rich quick” business or investment opportunities.
Business-service companies such as payroll, invoicing and consumer services.
Chain letters.
Collection agencies and firms recovering past-due receivables.
Credit repair, credit restoration, card protection and identity-theft protection.
Data-pass businesses that cross-sell or share cardholder data with third parties.
Debt consolidation and mortgage reduction or consulting services.
Door-to-door sales.
Embassies, foreign consulates and other foreign governments.
Essay mills, paper mills and ghost-writing services intended for academic submission.
Extended warranties.
Businesses with ransom-like or extortion-like models, such as mugshot-removal services.
Merchants attempting to evade card-brand excessive-chargeback monitoring programmes.
Marketplaces.

Restricted for E-Commerce/CNP Only

The following require TickTapPay's express written approval for e-commerce or card-not-present transactions:

Travel and holidays.
Ticket agencies.
Tobacco, alcohol, e-cigarettes and other age-restricted or legally restricted products and services.
Prescription medicines, pharmaceuticals and prescription medical devices such as contact lenses.
Nutraceuticals, supplements and other digestible products marketed using unsubstantiated or unlawful health claims.
Cosmetic products claiming extreme results, such as anti-wrinkle or skin-repair products.
Cyberlockers, cloud storage and file-sharing services.
Services associated with pseudoscience, including clairvoyance, horoscopes and fortune-telling.
